So, grab a cup of coffee, snuggle up with your little one, and let’s dive into the world of newborn photography!

1. When is the best time for newborn photography session?

In general, the best time for newborn photography session is within the first two weeks of your baby’s life. This is because during this time, your little one is more likely to be sleepy and easier to pose. Newborns are also still very curly and can be positioned in those adorable poses that you see in all the photos.

That being said, every baby is different, and some newborns may be more alert and harder to pose during those first two weeks. Additionally, if you have a premature baby or your baby has certain health concerns, I may recommend waiting until your little one is a bit older and stronger.

4. How long does a typical newborn photography session last?

This depends on the baby and how they go during the session, as well as other factors such as other children that might be included. A good rough guide is 30-90 minutes ๐Ÿ˜Š

5. What happens if my baby is fussy or won’t cooperate during the photo shoot?

If your baby is fussy or won’t cooperate during the photo shoot, don’t worry! It’s completely normal and I’m well prepared for it. I have lots of experience with newborns, and I know that they can be unpredictable. My top priority is to make sure that your baby is comfortable and happy throughout the session, so I always allow plenty of time for rocking, soothing, and downtime.

During the session, I let your baby take the lead, and we work around their needs and mood. If they’re fussy, we take a break to feed, change, or cuddle them until they feel calm and content again. I’m patient and understanding, and I never rush the process. I know that babies rule the session, and I negotiate with them as best possible to capture the best moments.

It’s important to note that I plan every session for a grumpy, awake baby, so even if your little one is having an off day, we can still get a good range of images that you’ll love. My goal is to create a relaxed and stress-free environment for you and your baby, and to capture the beautiful moments of this special time.

6. Can parents and siblings be included in the photos?

Absolutely! Documenting your growing family is SO important. When we are included siblings, we start with the family portion of the session so they are all done and dusted early and can chill out watching Netflix for a while or go with Dad to the local park ๐Ÿ˜Š

7. How many photos will I receive after the photo shoot, and how long will it take to receive them?

Galleries range in size from 20-50ish images. Depending on how many family members are included and how settled your newborn is on the day. The amount of images you receive depends on the package you have selected and ranges from 15 to 25 or all images.

8. How do I choose a photographer who specializes in newborn photography?

Choosing a photographer who specializes in newborn photography is an important decision. You want to make sure you find someone who is experienced and knows how to handle and work with newborns. So, where do you start?

Firstly, do your research! Look online for local photographers who specialize in newborn photography. Check out their websites and portfolios to see if their style and work align with your preferences. Look for reviews and recommendations from other parents who have used their services.

Next, make sure to ask the photographer about their experience and training working with newborns.

It’s also important to consider the photographer’s studio space. Make sure it is clean and safe for your baby. Is it equipped with all the necessary props and equipment for the shoot?

The most important thing here is experience. How long have they worked with newborns? The more experience the better!

9.What should I bring with me to the photo shoot?

When it comes to a newborn photo shoot, there are a few things you’ll want to bring along to ensure that everything goes smoothly. First and foremost, you’ll want to make sure you have water and snacks for yourself and any other children you may have in tow. I mean, who doesn’t love snacks, right?

You’ll also want to bring along some bribes for the kids (hey, no judgment here!), as well as something to make them laugh or keep them entertained during the shoot. Sometimes a little distraction is all that’s needed to get those perfect shots.

In terms of practical items, don’t forget to bring along diapers and a pacifier (even if your little one isn’t a fan just yet). And if you’re bottle-feeding, bring some formula or expressed milk, too.

And finally, if you have any personal or sentimental items you want included in the photos, be sure to bring those along as well. Whether it’s a special blanket or a family heirloom, incorporating those special items into the photos can make them even more meaningful. So pack up those bags and get ready for a memorable photo shoot!

10. Are there any safety precautions that photographers take during a newborn photo shoot?

Absolutely! At my newborn photo shoots, safety is always my number one priority. As a professional photographer with years of experience working with babies, I know exactly how to handle them safely. Some safety precautions that I take include always having a spotter on hand, using soft and comfortable props and blankets, and never leaving the baby unattended. I also make sure that the temperature in the room is warm and comfortable for the baby and take extra care when posing the baby to ensure that their airways are always clear.

I am up to date on my vaccinations and am always very careful about hygiene. I sanitize my hands before handling the baby and always use clean and sterilized equipment. Safety is of the utmost importance, and I take every precaution to ensure that your baby is safe and comfortable throughout the entire photo shoot. So, you can relax and enjoy watching your little one being captured in all their precious newness!

Capturing those first few weeks of your baby’s life is so special and creates memories that you can treasure for years to come. It’s a time that passes by so quickly, and having professional photos to look back on is something you won’t regret.

Investing in newborn photography is not just about the photos themselves, but also about the experience. The session itself is an opportunity for you to slow down and soak up those special moments with your newborn. You get to witness the magic of a professional photographer capturing your baby’s unique personality and beauty. And, of course, you get to enjoy the thrill of sharing those gorgeous images with your family and friends.
