Baby’s First Footprint

Another fun idea is to make a Baby’s First Footprint. Grab some ink or paint and create a footprint on paper or canvas. It’s a great keepsake to add to a baby book or just to hang on the wall with the date and time of birth, the baby’s name, and other details.

Memory Box

Lastly, create a Memory Box to store all of your baby’s special moments and items. It’s the perfect place to keep all of those precious memories, like their first outfit, a lock of hair, a special toy, and of course, photos! It’s a great way to look back and reminisce on your baby’s milestones. My Heirloom box is SO popular with my newborn clients and they use it for precisely this reason! Not to mention they use the images to frame and hang on their walls as well we gifts to friends and family.

Holding head up – tummy time

Oh baby, tummy time is a big deal! It’s an exciting milestone that shows your little one is growing and developing like a champ. Tummy time is when your baby spends some quality time on their belly, kicking and exploring the world around them. This special time helps strengthen their muscles, especially in the neck, back, and shoulders, which is essential for crawling and other forms of movement.

Celebrating this milestone is a great way to track your baby’s progress and encourage their further development. Plus, it’s a chance to show off your baby’s cute and silly belly time moments!

Tummy Time Playdate

How about organizing a tummy time playdate? You can invite other parents and their little ones over for a fun and interactive playtime. Set up a play area with age-appropriate toys, cushions, and blankets for the babies to lie on their stomachs. This not only allows your baby to socialize but also gives them a chance to practice their tummy time skills with other babies.

Time Time Photo Shoot

Capture the tummy time milestone by taking photos of your little one lying on their stomach. Dress them up in cute outfits or use fun props to make the photoshoot more interesting. Not to mention this is also an amazing time to get those GORGEOUS eyes open baby photos!

Dance Party

Make tummy time more fun by singing songs or dancing with your baby. You can play music or sing nursery rhymes while your baby practices tummy time. This will help your baby associate tummy time with something enjoyable, and the bonding experience will be priceless!

Sitting

Woo hoo! Your little one is growing up and has hit the sitting milestone! This exciting stage usually happens around 6 to 8 months of age and is a major step in your baby’s motor skills development. It takes a lot of muscle power to sit up unassisted, so it’s no surprise that this is a big deal for parents and caregivers.

Sitting independently means your baby can finally get a fresh perspective on the world around them, interact with toys and people with greater ease, and even enjoy some tasty snacks without tipping over. Plus, it’s a major step toward crawling, standing, and walking – exciting times ahead! So…here are a few ideas to help celebrate this milestone!

Sitting Photoshoot

Strike a pose, baby! I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this stage! Especially if the baby is not yet crawling. It means we can sit them in anything and just focus on those expressions….and boy do they give us some priceless expressions!!

Sitting Contest

Who will be the sitting champ? Time your baby and see how long they can sit independently. Get friends and family involved and make it a fun contest with a prize for the winner.

Sitting Milestone Board

Make a milestone board to document your baby’s sitting progress. Take some cute snaps of them sitting and note down how long they can hold themselves up independently. It’s a great way to keep track of their achievements and look back on their progress.

First Word

Celebrating your child’s first word is an exciting moment that marks a significant milestone in their development. It’s a time when you can share in their joy and achievement as they start to communicate with the world around them.

When babies start talking, it’s a sign that their language skills are developing, and they are learning to interact with others. Celebrating their first words can help to encourage further language development and create a positive association with language learning.

Create a guessing game

Who can guess what bubs first word will be? Maybe the winner gets to babysit so you and hubby can go on a date night – haha!

Word Wall

Create a special “word wall” in your home where you write down and display all the new words your child learns. You can use colorful chalk or sticky notes to make it fun and interactive for your little one.

Feast!

Create a feast inspired by your child’s first words. For example, if your child’s first word is “banana,” you could make a banana-themed cake or a banana split bar.

Audio Recording

Record your baby saying their first word(s). My parents have an audio recording of me saying “little miss Muffet” at under 2 years old and it is the CUTEST…even if I do say so myself 😊

Walking

Oh, baby’s first steps – what a magical moment! There are so many fun and creative ways to celebrate this milestone with your little one.

Capture it on video

For starters, you can capture the moment on video and turn it into a family tradition to watch it together every year. Make a memory book or frame a photo to commemorate the special occasion and make it even more memorable.

Walking Adventure

Take your little one on a walking adventure to explore the world around them. Visit a local park, go on a nature walk or simply take a leisurely stroll around your neighborhood. Let your baby discover and experience new sights and sounds, and celebrate every new step they take.

Create a Keepsake

Create a keepsake to cherish this special moment for years to come. You could make a plaster cast of your baby’s tiny feet or create a personalized stepping stone for your garden. Don’t forget to make a “first steps” photo album or scrapbook to keep all the precious memories safe.

Toys

Last but not least, keep the fun going by providing your little one with age-appropriate toys and games that encourage walking, such as push toys or ride-on toys. This will not only help them continue to develop their walking skills but also give them endless hours of entertainment.

First Birthday

The first birthday is a huge milestone for both parents and babies alike! It’s a special time to celebrate all the wonderful accomplishments and growth that has taken place over the past year. There are countless ways to celebrate this momentous occasion, from throwing a big party with all your loved ones, to having a quiet family gathering with a cake and some balloons.

Whatever way you choose to celebrate, it’s important to make it memorable for both you and your baby. You can decorate the space with colourful streamers and balloons, prepare delicious snacks and treats, and provide lots of fun games and activities that your baby will enjoy. You can even create a special keepsake, like a memory book or a photo album, to commemorate the occasion.

But most importantly, this is a time to reflect on all the wonderful moments and milestones your baby has achieved over the past year, from the first time they smiled, to the first time they took their first steps. Celebrating the first birthday is a time to cherish the wonderful memories of the past year and look forward to all the exciting moments yet to come.

Cake Smash

Update your family photos and have a cake smash or birthday themed session! Get parents and siblings in on the action for non stop laughs…and tears! My clients often create an Heirloom album that comprises elements from all of their sessions with me spanning their babies first year. This becomes a record for them showing babies progress from birth until now.

DIY Photo Booth

Set up a DIY photo booth for your baby’s first birthday party. Create a fun and colourful backdrop with balloons, streamers, or even a photo wall made from your baby’s favourite toys. Provide silly props and costumes for your guests to wear and capture some unforgettable memories.

Personalized Time Capsule

Create a personalized time capsule to commemorate your baby’s first year of life. Fill it with special items like photos, toys, and a handwritten letter from you to your baby. Open it on their 18th birthday for a fun and sentimental trip down memory lane.

Book Exchange Party

Host a book exchange party to celebrate your baby’s first year of learning and development. Ask each guest to bring a book that they loved as a child or one that they think your baby will enjoy. Not only will your baby be able to add some new books to their collection, but you’ll also be fostering a love for reading and learning from an early age.
